Car Still on Track
John George returned to Donington Park for the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship after his disaster outing in 2008 when he came together with John Collard off the track which ripped off the left back wheel from his Honda Integra. This ended his day after only Race 1.
TH Motorsport Racing with JAG had a much improved day and left the circuit thinking they could of maybe done better than they actually did.
John George said “ Donington Park is a great circuit and I like taking part there but we just never seem to have much luck there.”
Race 1 took part in heavy rain and the conditions were very difficult and John managed to bring the Honda home in 17th. Race 2 took place in much better dry conditions on a dry track and John finished 14th behind the Ford Focus driven by Alan Morrison.
Race 3, John had a good competitive race. Decisions had to be made with the tyres and intermediates were chosen. This looked to be the correct decision in the first part of the race which saw the teamJAG Honda competing for 12th but as the track dried the tyres deteriorated quickly.
So what was a promising position John ended in 17th
John said “After last year it was good to finish the day with the car in one piece especially when we ended our day after the first race. This time it was really difficult racing in the heavy rain in Race 1 but when we got through that we did well and felt we should of pushed on a bit more.
He added “We had a good day though and we felt we could of done slightly better with regards results which can only be good for the future”
The next round of the BTCC is at Oulton Park on May 31st
